Elfriede Hengstenberg was a German educator. She studied gymnastics and the concept of music pedagogy by Heinrich Jacoby and was also influenced by the work of Elsa Gindler. Both approaches she included in her own work with children and then developed her very own movement concept. From 1928 til 1933 she taught at a Montessori school in Berlin after the principles of her concept. In 1935 and 936 she was invited by Emmi Pikler to teach courses for adults in Budapest.
