MATERiALS

materials

The most common Building Materials nowadays are Concrete and Steel. On the European continent Timber is also a well known Building material, certainly not thought of as being something you just use for log houses or garden sheds. In Britain unfortunately that is the widespread thought.
The need for a reduction in Carbon Emissions in our buildings and throughout the Construction process is increasing and therefore the Steel and Construction companies are both playing ball games with the industry. Both are claiming to be the more sustainable option, the longer lasting one, the one that needs less embodied energy and of course the more attractive one.
Well when two argue the third one is laughing and therefore the Timber industry can see its glancing time coming. Scandinavian Architects are waving on the other side of the sea offering help in the design and construction with a Material they have been using for centuries.

For the purpose of this website I will leave all three of those materials out, although I might include timber at some point. But for now I would like to focus on something that for most people is really new, really strange. I will introduce you to the most exciting, creative and enjoyable building materials you could think of.

Enjoy !
